Dr. Simon Tindemans is an Assistant Professor in the Intelligent Electrical Power Grids group at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands. He previously worked as a Research Fellow and Marie Curie Intra-European Fellow at Imperial College London, UK, and obtained his PhD degree in the domain of theoretical biophysics before focusing exclusively on the analysis of electricity-dominated energy systems. Simon leads a team of researchers at the intersection of electrical engineering, statistics and computer science, developing methods to manage uncertainty in complex energy systems. Among other partners, he works with two large TSOs (TenneT, RTE) and Dutch DSO Alliander to improve the reliability and efficiency of their networks. Simon is an active member of the Reliability, Risk and Probability Applications subcommittee of the IEEE Power and Energy Society and contributes to the "AI for Energy and Sustainability” initiative at TU Delft.
