Jan Bot is co-founder of zepp.solutions. He studied at the University of Technology in Delft where he joined the Forze Hydrogen Electric Racing Team in 2011. While first being recruited as a test and development driver, Jan’s functions became more diverse over the years with responsibilities in both technical and non-technical roles. In 2012, he became the first driver in the world to race a hydrogen fuel cell powered car in a competition. In 2017, finished a race with the Forze VII, which became the first full-scale hydrogen fuel cell race car that ever completed a race against conventional combustion-powered racing cars.
In 2016, Jan and four other seasoned veterans of the Forze team decided that the knowledge they gained in hydrogen technology, fuel cell systems and hybrid powertrains would present a great opportunity for a spin-off company. In 2017, zepp.solutions B.V. was founded together with Jonas Brendelberger, Remco Duba, Joost Kortleve and Kevin Schreiber. Zepp.solutions designs, produces and integrates plug & play hydrogen fuel cell systems for various commercial applications. Since 2017, the company has grown to 15 employees. Current projects include a fuel cell yard tractor developed in collaboration with Terberg Special Vehicles and the first hydrogen Watertaxi that will soon be transporting passengers across the Maas in Rotterdam. Jan’s responsibilities within zepp. are business development and finance.
