Sustainability

For Recharge Earth, sustainability is naturally a key focus. Recharge Earth is organised in and by Rotterdam Ahoy. As an organisation, we are strongly committed to a sustainable future and have therefore implemented an ambitious sustainability policy that encompasses our entire organisation and venue.

Sustainability drivers

Our primary ambition is to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO?. We aim to achieve this through concrete measures, such as phasing out fossil fuels and introducing initiatives to reduce and offset CO? emissions through green projects. In addition, we are making significant investments in renewable energy sources, such as solar panels and thermal energy storage, to support events in an environmentally friendly way and thereby minimise our ecological footprint. We also use innovative technologies, such as a water buffer system, to collect and purify rainwater for reuse, helping to reduce the shortage of clean water.

Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond emission reduction. We actively strive to reduce waste and promote high-quality recycling, using a circular approach to waste management. We even experiment with new waste collection methods, such as reusing plastic cups during events. Sustainability is also an integral part of our food and beverage policy, with a strong focus on local and seasonal products to minimise food waste and reduce our ecological footprint.

Proactive goals

We also actively encourage our visitors to use sustainable modes of transport, such as public transportation and cycling. We work closely with transport providers to promote sustainable travel options and proactively inform visitors about environmentally friendly transport. Collaboration is key to the success of our sustainability efforts. We select partners who share the same sustainability principles and strengthen our efforts by working together on social projects and initiatives. Our commitment goes beyond hosting events; we also organise sustainable events ourselves and contribute to creating a healthier, greener city.
