IPCC report underlines the necessity for a fast energy transition

Last August, scientists of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change organized by the United Nations reported that according to new calculations the global temperature increase would not be limited to 1,5 degrees °C, unless an immediate, large-scale reduction of greenhouse emissions would be set in place.

Recently, the IPCC published a second report about the effects on human and nature, vulnerable countries and ecosystems, and the possibilities for change. In this report, the scientific panel states that climate change will have even more serious consequences for human and nature than what was previously believed. Some of these consequences are already sensible and also irreversible. The IPCC also concludes that the world is insufficiently capable of adjusting to the changing climate. In April, the panel will publish a third report, which will be about the possibilities of fastening the reduction of greenhouse emissions.
